At Chalk School of Movement, we highly value your commitment to our classes and strive to offer you the best experience possible. Below, you'll find important information about class attendance, make-ups, and our policies:

Class Attendance:
Your tuition secures your spot in a class, similar to college courses, irrespective of attendance. We strongly encourage students to attend their scheduled class whenever possible.

Make-Up Classes:
Make-up classes are a privilege we provide, not a strict policy. Chalk offers one make-up class per month if it doesn't compromise class safety or quality. Please note that if our classes are at full capacity, make-up classes may not be available.

Session Timing:
All make-up classes must be scheduled and completed within the current session for which you've registered. To schedule your make-up, please contact our office.

Refunds and Credits:
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or credits for missed classes. However, if you know you won't be able to attend, please notify our office as early as possible. This allows others to schedule a make-up or trial class in your child's spot.

Exceptional Circumstances:
Typically, refunds or credits for dropped enrollments or no-shows are not available. We understand that extreme family emergencies or injuries (not illnesses) may occur. In such cases, we require a doctor's note to review and approve any requests for refunds or credits.

Validity of Credits:
Any credits issued, regardless of the reason, are valid for six months from the date of issuance, without exceptions.

Cancellations and Closures:
Our policy regarding closures and cancellations is designed to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. Generally, we follow the Hood River County School District for holidays and weather-related closures. However, please be aware that Hood River County is quite vast, and there are instances when schools far from Chalk might close due to inclement weather. In cases where roads and travel conditions between Chalk and the town of Hood River remain clear, we will remain open. Additionally, there are a few holidays when schools close, but we do not, and we do not close for in-service events at the school. We announce closures by emailing the rosters of classes scheduled for that evening and by posting updates on Instagram and Facebook.

Make-Up Options for Missed Classes Due to Closures:
In the event of class cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, we offer several options for making up missed classes, including:

  • An Open Play pass for one session
  • A drop-in to a similar class with available openings (reservation required)
  • A drop-in to an After School Camp for half a session (applicable in cases of two closures) (reservation required)
  • A drop-in to a Schools Out Camp for one-third of a session (applicable in cases of three closures) (reservation required)

Please note that camp drop-ins are only available in the case of extended weather-related closures or holiday breaks when multiple classes or events are affected.

Missed After School Camps:
Missed After School Camps can be made up on a one-to-one ratio by attending an additional day (reservation required).

Cancelled Schools Out Camps:
In the unfortunate event of a cancelled Schools Out Camp, your account will be credited.

We genuinely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to these policies. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to our management team. Your dedication to Chalk Gymnastics is greatly valued, and we are here to ensure that your experience with us is both enjoyable and rewarding.

Chalk charges an annual registration fee of $50 per participant. Our family registration fee is $85 for the whole family. Please see Memberships and Fees for more information.

At Chalk Gymnastics, we offer multi-visit passes for Open Play and some other specialty classes. These passes can be shared within a family and are conveniently managed on a single family account.

For Open Gym sessions, please keep in mind the following rules:

  • Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a guardian during Open Gym.
  • Children aged 18 months or older must be registered for Open Gym.

Additionally, we kindly ask our valued patrons to note that casual birthday parties during Open Play are not permitted. This includes bringing cakes, treats, or hosting a large group of children during Open Play without prior arrangement. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we require one adult present for every four children under the age of 13. Your cooperation helps us maintain a positive and organized environment for all our guests.

Chalk Gymnastics offers a 5% discount on each child's fees when they are registered together in the same transaction. This discount applies even if the children are enrolled in different classes, providing flexibility for families with multiple children participating in our programs. Please note that exceptions cannot be made to this policy due to our limited administrative capacity, and coupon codes are only applicable when the criteria are met during registration. Register all your children at once to take advantage of this valuable discount!

Class Ratios:

  1. Our Three-year-old Preschool classes maintain a low one to six staff to participant ratio.
  2. Four to Five-year-old Preschool classes maintain a one to eight staff to participant ratio.
  3. For other recreational classes, we typically follow a one to ten staff to participant ratio.
  4. If a class has a waiting list, we'll consider adding a second instructor to accommodate the demand.

Exceptions:

  1. Please note that Advanced classes, Adult gym sessions, Special events, and Teen Tumble do not adhere to these specific ratios.
  2. Classes with fewer than four registered participants may be canceled or placed on hold until we reach the required minimum of five participants.

  1. Cancellation Policy:
To remove your child from class and stop billing, we require a minimum of two weeks' notice before the next billing cycle. Since our billing cycles all start on the first of the month, the deadline to terminate before the next cycle is the 15th of the current month. Please email chalkup@chalkinc.org to request termination.
  2. Billing Structure:
Our fees are structured based on the school year and summer programs. Members can choose monthly autopay. Enrollment is open throughout the year. Monthly fees are calculated as a percentage of the overall semester amount. There is a slight discount for the pay-in-full option. Our monthly class fees remain consistent and are not determined by the number of weeks in a month but are based on the overall semester percentage. This approach ensures fairness for parents and allows us to focus on serving our kids and parents more efficiently.
  3. Monthly Billing Schedule:
All monthly memberships are scheduled to bill on the first of each month. If you join Chalk classes mid-month, your fee will be pro-rated for the partial month until the next billing cycle starts.
  4. Class Schedule and Pricing:
Our class schedule is determined in advance for each season (school year or summer) and priced based on the number of classes offered during that season. This may result in varying class counts per month, but our pricing accounts for these variations, ensuring a balanced cost over the term.
  5. Refunds and Transfers:
We understand that plans can change. Please note that we cannot honor transfers after the fact. If you need to transfer a class credit to a different class, please inform us at the front desk before the class takes place. Missed classes and camps are non-refundable. Early/mid-month terminations will not be refunded. One make-up class is allowed per month; please refer to our Make-Up Classes policy for details.
  6. Summer Camps and Classes:
Week-long summer camp deposits and drop-in camp payments are non-refundable. Camp balance payments are due in full by 5/31 and are also non-refundable.
  7. Non-Refundable Classes and Camps:
Monthly autopay classes and camps are non-refundable. If you choose not to attend pre-scheduled camps or classes, you may transfer to a similar offering during the same term of the same type. Classes cannot be transferred to camps, and vice versa. Missed camps and classes cannot be transferred to in-house credit for later use in subsequent terms.
